How did you end up in your current job, and what drives you?
I stepped back into legal tech 5 years ago. For the last 18 months I have been global head of Product at Neota Logic. Product is something I’m really passionate about. Building products that delight customers is something that I find extremely rewarding.
Describe a typical day in your life as a legal tech professional
It typically starts at 6am on the phone to colleagues and clients in the US and ends at 8 or 9pm on the phone to colleagues and clients in the UK. In between I like to keep connected with the team here and I try to find time to pick my kids up from school most days. Isolation has its advantages!
You are about to go back in time to give your younger self a single piece of advice. What do you say to younger Julian? And when?
Don’t worry too much about the future. The present is so much fun!
It’s 30 October 2030. What will lawyers and legal tech founders say when they look back at the legal industry today? What moments and trends will they still be talking about?
I think the focus on ‘client experience’ which has manifested in the last year or two, is something that we will look back as game changing for all areas of legal service delivery

ALTA is a community of Australian founded legal technology companies. We provide opportunities to learn from peers, showcase our tech to the market and meet prospects and partners to help scale our businesses. ALTA is a member driven organisation so we really value and want to help our members achieve success.
What is your role on the ALTA board and what are your plans for the rest of your term?
I oversee ALTACON which is our annual conference. We bring together our members along with in-house lawyers and law firms so they can learn about the very best of Aussie legal tech!
